Tariff Impact: Review ACH Settings to Prevent Payment Disruptions

As recent tariff increases drive up duty costs, we encourage all importers using ACH Debit payment methods (Pay Types 3, 7, or 8) to review their ACH account settings with their financial institutions.

To help avoid disruptions in payment processing, please consider the following:

  • Confirm with your bank that it will authorize higher debit amounts to cover increased duties, taxes, and fees.
  • Provide your financial institution with CBP’s Company ID, which was included in your original ACH Debit authorization.
  • Review your ACH reports to understand your current debit volumes and ensure your account has sufficient funds available.
  • Discuss debit caps and transaction limits with your bank. This is especially important for periodic monthly statement (PMS) filers, who may see multiple debits at month-end.

Failure to allow sufficient debits may result in a rejected payment and the issuance of a debit voucher from CBP. Repeated issues could lead to removal from the ACH Debit program and potential penalties.

If you're transitioning to ACH Debit or have questions about your setup, we're here to help ensure a smooth process. Please contact your Yusen Logistics representative or email us at solutions@us.yusen-logistics.com and a member of our team will contact you promptly.
